Our numbers were swelled significantly by 5 players from Newport, most (all?) of whom had come back in June. Great to see you back again, and to know we didn't scare you off! By my reckoning we had about 24 players, though some only came for half a day.
Trina started the day with a lovely arrangement of a Haydn 'Fugue on 2 subjects'. Originally written for strings, Trina asked us to imagine we were string players, and not to play the staccato notes too staccato. It was so lovely, it could be another candidate for our concert in November. We had enough time before our coffee break to try the 'Fugue on Four Subjects' that followed, but the Allegro in 6/8 time proved quite tricky so we left it for another time. After coffee, we had a quick run through Alyson Lewin's arrangement of 'Calon Lan' before it was time for our branch AGM. The AGM minutes will be circulated to all members and attendees in due course. Following the AGM, lunch was declared and it was just about warm enough to sit outside. After lunch, Caroline took us through the Marg Hall 'Caprice' and Byrd 'Fantasy Sextet'. It was then deemed time for tea and cake: Lemon Drizzle from Mary and a fruit cake from Helen Fletcher. Thank you both! Delyth then finished the day with (I can't remember! Will check :))
